california here we come!

Alas, the time has come for me to go back to California…I leave Boston tomorrow to go pick up Megan in NYC, and then off to California we go! Our ETA is sometime on my favorite day of the year, July 4th, hopefully in time for the fireworks to top it all off!

“Big Retrospective Painting”, a 36 ft long all-encompassing work by Andy Warhol.  The 1979 postmodernist painting is on exhibition in Switzerland at the 40th edition of Art Basel, the world’s most prestigious art exhibition/fair. The piece is priced at $74 million dollars!

The HIGH LINE finally opened!  Years in the making, the High Line is a new, elevated public park in downtown Manhattan whose steel structure once carried the West Side freight rail road from 34th street down to the Meat Packing District and West Village, several stories above the ground. The rail line closed in 1980 and was an abandoned, overgrown eyesore until the city invested $50 million dollars into refurbishing it. High Line park finally opened on June 8, 2009.
